Let’s hear a round of applause for Woking Lightbox and the Palette bistro for instigating the Friday night events at the Lightbox: and in particular, last week’s open mic evening, which saw the cafe area packed out for several hours of poetry readings and play performance. Such events go a little way towards opening up the Lightbox in the evenings: in an ideal world the bistro area would be open every night, but one step at a time, I guess. There is an argument too that the Lightbox should host more community arts events than it does, even if it is primarily a museum and art gallery. After all, we pay for the running of it through Woking council’s subsidy. In the meantime, ┬áthe success of the open mic event means there will be a similar event, with the focus on storytelling this time, at the Lightbox on Friday October 2

This is also an interesting link for facts about the Lightbox and an examination of its impact on Woking
