Let’s hear a round of applause for Woking Lightbox and the Palette bistro for instigating the Friday night events at the Lightbox: and in particular, last week’s open mic evening, which saw the cafe area packed out for several hours of poetry readings and play performance. Such events go a little way towards opening up the Lightbox in the evenings: in an ideal world the bistro area would be open every night, but one step at a time, I guess. There is an argument too that the Lightbox should host more community arts events than it does, even if it is primarily a museum and art gallery. After all, we pay for the running of it through Woking council’s subsidy. In the meantime,  the success of the open mic event means there will be a similar event, with the focus on storytelling this time, at the Lightbox on Friday October 2

This is also an interesting link for facts about the Lightbox and an examination of its impact on Woking
