Category Archives: Woking’s trickle-down effect

Is it just me, or do others agree that this municipal fountain, sited between the Ambassadors entertainment complex and Woking borough council’s offices in the town centre, is rather, well, piddly?  Its toadstool-like appearance doesn’t provide much of a focal point or add anything aesthetically to a rather dark and gloomy corner of the town. Maybe it is too trivial a matter to worry about in these days of credit crunch, but I can’t help yearning for something that would make a much bigger splash, and in doing so provide a communal meeting point, like the one in New York’s Greenwich Village, or even Trafalgar Square. But I’m sure there will be those who will pour cold water on this idea
